Our business began in 1966, when owner Ray Nunn made a trip to the John Deere warehouse in Indianapolis, Indiana to pick up our first inventory of tractors in a borrowed pick-up truck. He returned with two John Deere Model 110 lawn & garden tractors (the only model available at that time) and a box of parts. He worked as the only employee for Ray`s Lawn & Garden while continuing to work for his father-in-law, Wayne Rogers, in the Rogers Oil Co. petroleum delivery business. The new lawn & garden business operated out of a small building in conjunction with the oil company.

In 1967, the Snapper riding mower was added to the product line. The business grew as word got around about Ray`s quality service and fair prices, and in 1973 we had to face the fact that we had outgrown our building.  Our new facility was built at the same Sellersburg location on Highway 403 and housed a showroom, parts department and service area.

Additional employees were now needed to serve the expanding community of customers. Since that time, we have grown with John Deere in providing equipment that meets the needs of the growing Commercial and Consumer Equipment markets. Also, to provide a variety of equipment to our customers, we have added Echo, Shindaiwa, Honda, Landpride, Little Wonder (Mantis), Billy Goat, and Brinly Hardy to our product line.

Today we are one of the largest John Deere riding lawn equipment dealers in the Louisville market area. We have earned the John DeereCircle of Excellence award repeatedly since its creation in 1985.

In 2001 we completed a major renovation of our facility; doubling the showroom and office areas to better serve our customers in today`s modern sales environment. Our showroom now displays the most popular models of John Deere riding lawn equipment & commercial mowing equipment, the ever-popular all purpose Gator utility vehicles, various walk mowers, generators, chain saws, trimmers, blowers, and more. We also have a large selection of toys; both for children to play with as well as the collector series items for all ages to enjoy looking at.

Our business is still proudly family owned and operated. Ray and his wife, Sandy, are both still actively involved in the business and have been joined by their son Chad, their daughter Andrea, and their son-in-law Jeff. At Ray`s Lawn & Garden, we are continually planning for the future and will always keep the wants and needs of our customers as our Number One goal.
